Bowls In Focus : December 2011
Bowls In Focus 33 Victoria has selected a highly competitive team to compete in the annual National RSL Bowls Interstate Carnival at Tweed Heads later this month. Presented on 27-29 December at the magnificent Gold Coast venue, this 45th Carnival will see our representatives take on all states in the two prestigious competitions, the Jack Hamilton VC and Dr Sydney Krantz Memorial events. Each state will be represented by a side of up to 24 players (including four reser ves), being full ser vice members of their respective state RSL and eligible to compete in the coveted Jack Hamilton VC Trophy event, while another six will feature in the Dr Sydney Krantz Memorial Trophy competition. Following the three-day event, commencing on 2 January is the Sir Arthur Lee National Fours, a five-day competition where eligible players must be service members of a state RSL and affiliated members of a bowls governing body. The Victorian side selected to play is: Jack Hamilton VC Trophy: Alistair Robertson (Brighton), Ted Hovard (Corowa Services), Graham Harrison (City of Echuca), Mark Broadwood (Essendon), Justin Bell (Frankston RSL), Rod Allen (Geelong RSL), Terry Fraser (Hastings), John Strybosch (Heathmont), John Fisher (Korumburra), Greg Shilling (Kyabram), Alan Firth (Kyneton Golf), Alan Collins (Lakes Entrance), Alan Harris (Moonee Valley), Pat Phelan (Mulgrave Country Club), Peter McMullen (Rosebud Country Club), Ken Sceney, Bruce Warr (Sale), Ron Luker, John Patterson (Stanhope) and Norm Phillips (Sunshine City). Reser ves: Peter Lee (Geelong RSL), Tony Stewart (Morwell) and Roger McKenzie (Yarrawonga). Dr Sydney Krantz Memorial Trophy: Bernie Clifford (Bundoora RSL), Herb Mason (Epping RSL), Peter Lee (Geelong RSL), Jack Shrume (Seaford), George Dyson (Sunshine RSL) and David Parrot (Woodend), Victoria will host the 46th Carnival next December at the Glen Waverley Bowls Club.
