Regulations for Attire In response to numerous requests from Clubs and discussed at the recent Board Meeting in Corowa, the Board announced during the week via a Memo of 14 September: The Board confirms that for the next two (2) seasons (2010/11 and 2011/12) Club Registered Shirts, which are cur- rently registered with Bowls Victoria may, at the discretion of the Club, be worn in the same Bowls Victoria Pennant sides. That is, where Clubs have two shirts registered (one previously for VLBA and one previously for RVBA) the Sides en- tered in Bowls Victoria Pennant competi- tions may, at the discretion of the Club, wear a combination of the two shirts. For season 2012/2013, all players in a side must be wearing the same shirt, meaning that Clubs will need to either: (a) Play in a registered shirt of one design only, or (b) Revert to using different shirts for Saturday and for Mid-Week Pennant. VCAT Application As circulated via email and the web- site, the VCAT exemption allowing Clubs to advertise and conduct Men’s Singles Club Championships, Wom- en’s Singles Club Championships, Men’s Pairs Club Championships, Women’s Pairs Club Championships was granted on 7 September 2010. Our thanks go out to David South and Middle Park Bowling Club for initiating the application, for speaking with great clarity at the hearing on the reasons for such an exemption, and to the more than 200 clubs that wrote/emailed in support of the application. Also thanks to Catherine Berry from Lander & Rogers who pre- pared the Bowls Victoria submission and presented a compelling case on the day. Clubs are reminded that these exemp- tions apply to only the Club Singles and Club Pairs Club Championships – not to other singles and pairs events that clubs conduct. The relevant VCAT documents themselves are available via our News Items at www.bowlsvic.org.au 2010-2011 Men’s Pairs Championships As indicated via a recent Memo, Bowls Victoria will need to intro- duce two new Championship Events for 2011/12 (Men’s Pairs Champion of Champions and Women’s Pairs Champion of Champions). In that environment, and having identi- fied inadequate/incomplete processes leading to the decision to change the format of the Men’s Pairs Championship for 2010/2011, the Board determined that the Men’s Pairs Championship for 2010/2011 will revert to 2x2x2x2 format rather than the 3-bowl pairs previously advised.
