36 Bowls In Focus Campaspe Valley Campaspe Valley DLBA recently honoured Phyllis Thompson with a Life Membership. A hard and gener- ous worker for the association over many years, Phyllis has served two terms (7 years) as president together with many years on match commit- tee both as chair and member. She has also served as delegate and has represented CVDLBA on many oc- casions. Always happy to help carry the workload and pass on her vast knowledge and encouragement to others. Orchids to you Phyllis! Central Central DLBA celebrated their 50th anniversary recently with a luncheon in Seymour. History tells us it was June 1960 at the inaugural meeting chaired by VLBA state president Clarice Holbrook that was held at Seymour VRI for the purpose of playing ladies pennant. Special guests joining in the happy occasion were members of the Bowls Victoria executive, together invited guests and members were welcomed by CDLBA president Margaret Adcock and secretary Lois Phillipson. We are in very much in the digital age and a highlight was a PowerPoint presenta- tion of 'Milestones and Memories' recalled many of the people and achievements of CDLBA over the past 50 years. Applause greeted the achievements of our 2009-2010 state champion of champions winner Ann Borham, triples winners Alison Hall, Ann Borham and Jenny Ridd and our popular Group 8 guru Fay Ruthven. Judy Wright, a volunteer at the Moira Kelly's Children First Founda- tion gave an address and Power Point display on the children accommo- dated and cared for at the farm. In her official capacity she presented Fay Gillespie from Yea with a Super Veteran's badge. Eight players from CDLBA were part of the side for Group 8 to com- pete in Group Pennant Sides.
