They would have been disappointed in their semi final result. Werribee RSL's team of Trish Forder, Pat Dove, Gail Shipsides and Deanna Tobin were thereabouts in their section recording two strong wins against Warrnambool and Mooroopna but going down by five shots to Traralgon RSL. Another notable performance was that of Middle Park's Margaret Daniel, Isobel Turnbull, Lori Badenoch and Poppy Plumb. There are six female bowlers at the club and four of them made the state fours finals, an out- standing effort! Finally, for the Frankston RSL team it was sheer delight at winning a state title. Experienced skipper Dawn Harkness said: "We have played a lot of bowls together," as she clutched the Betty Collins State Fours trophy, "and we've had a fair bit of success, but this just takes the cake." The runners-up Leitchville, well, to see them walk off after losing, heads high, arm in arm and singing their club song as their skip Roma Opie gushed "We are just on cloud nine from being here and have enjoyed every moment." In the half-light at Burden Park and with long journeys ahead of them no one was in any hurry to leave the moment. - Marnie Gregory Victorian Fours Championship at Burden Park Bowls Club Section 1: Rd.1 Mulgrave CC (G Baric, S Hud- son, A Stirling, B Eaton) d Glenroy (J Hurst, N Shortis, J Salmon, J Davey) 10-7; Leitchville (R Opie, F Lyons, P O'Brien, B Woods) d Deniliquin (F Munnerley, J Grimshaw, R Little, B Leetham) 16-6.
