It is difficult to recall three more joyous souls than the Seymour trio of Alison Hall, Ann Borham and Jenny Ridd when they stepped up to collect the prestigious Margaret Radford Trophy after their victory at the Bendigo Bowls Club last month. They defeated the Warrackna- beal combination of skipper Ver na Blackley, Lorraine Fuller and Nor- een Belot by three shots in a final that played out like a soap opera of two distinct halves. Hall, Borham and Ridd only scored on two of the first 10 ends, albeit a three and a four, and trailed 7-12 with eight to play as Blackley, Fuller and Belot demonstrated their liking for the rapid running Bendigo turf. However, when the Seymour girls collected a two on the eleventh, skipper Alison Hall de- manded a long jack, which gained immediate results when the Central Association champions picked up another three and a single to take the lead. Seymour Side’s Triples Triumph • Above: How’s this for happiness! For- mer state president Margaret Radford presents her trophy to winners Alison Hall, Ann Borham and Jenny Ridd. • Below: Warracknabeal’s Lorraine Fuller gives this one a bit of air on its way into the scoring area.
