Bowls In Focus : August September 2009
s Around the Greens VLBA News Around the Greens VLBA News Around the Greens I T was indeed a great honour for me when I was installed as your State President for the coming season at the Annual General Meeting held at the Hawthorn Town Hall on the 19 August 2009. I am aware of the many responsibilities that such a position requires and I will endeavour to carry out my duties to the best of my ability with dignity and pride. I hope to be a worthy successor to those very capable presidents who have gone before me. I wish to assure you that at all times I will have the best interests at heart, for not only the Victorian Ladies Bowling Association, but also bowls in general throughout Victoria. Among the many guests and members who attended the Annual General Meeting were our Life Members, Past Presidents, Past Councillors, Sponsors and several invited guests. It was a great pleasure to welcome them all, together with our District and Club Delegates and members, all of whom have been an integral part of our Association and who have given so much dedicated and valued service throughout many years. Congratulations to our four new councillors, Jean Lynch from Albert Park VRI, Eaglehawk’s Bev Mill, Fran Reid from Essendon and Moorabbin’s Jan Shaw. I welcome them to State Council and wish them success and happiness as they undertake this who during her 12 years on State Council was such an outstanding ambassador with her vast knowledge, experience and dedication. Also retiring from State Council were councillors Marion Parkhill, Phyllis Mills and Jenny Moffat. We thank them all for their loyal service and wish them much happiness, good health and good bowling in the future. I am looking forward to visiting Maur een Connolly most valuable service to bowls in Victoria. We were sad to farewell our immediate past president Bev Shannahan, many clubs to meet and make many new friends throughout the coming season. I feel assured that this will be not only be an exciting but successful season for us all. Lastly I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to all the wonderful Delegates and members of the clubs in Bayside Beaches DLBA for their support and cooperation throughout my six years as their Councillor. They have been joyous years and I have made many friends. I wish my successor every success in her new role and am sure that she too will enjoy the experience.
